When should I order Halloween mylar bags?
Send artwork by early September so the proof, 4–6 days of production and 2–3 days of delivery all land before your October stock build.

Quoted per order, from £0.25 a pouch
Stand up foil pouches printed for the one night of the year when sweets sell by the sackful. Black with orange pumpkins, purple with ghosts and cauldrons, or your own trick or treat design, with a zipper so the bag lasts past the party.
The short version
Halloween mylar bags are seasonal printed foil pouches used by sweet shops, bakers and party suppliers for October stock. They are the same stand up or flat bags we print all year, with artwork built around pumpkins, bats, ghosts and spider webs. Sizes, laminates and closures are chosen per order and confirmed on a written quote.

Halloween mylar bags are printed foil pouches with seasonal artwork, made for the sweets, biscuits and treats that sell in the weeks before 31 October. The bags in our photos show the usual looks: matte black with orange pumpkins and bats, deep purple with white ghosts, and a cartoon cauldron design with Trick or Treat along the base.
Underneath the print they are ordinary stand up pouches: a bottom gusset, side seals, a zipper under a tear notch and a metallised laminate that keeps sweets dry and fresh. A flat version without the gusset works for party favours.
They sit in our sweet and gift bag range with the other seasonal designs, and you can run a Halloween print on any bag style we offer.
Independent sweet shops are the obvious buyers, filling bags with jelly worms, eyeball gums and sour sweets for the counter. Bakeries use them for decorated biscuits and brownie bites. Party suppliers fill small flat bags as favours for school and nursery parties.
Online sweet sellers order early and in larger quantities, because October deliveries have to arrive on time. Popcorn makers, fudge shops and chocolatiers also run a seasonal design beside their normal bag.
Sweets are light for their size, so a 100 g mix needs a bigger bag than 100 g of fudge. A 130 × 200 mm stand up pouch with a 70 mm gusset is the usual choice for a 100 g pick and mix. Fudge and toffee pack tighter and sit happily in a smaller bag.
For trick or treat handouts, a flat 90 × 140 mm bag with 40 to 50 g of sweets is cheaper to fill and easier to give out at the door. Door duty mixes of 500 g need a wider gusset so the bag stays upright on the hall table.
Tell us the sweets and the weight per bag. We size the pouch and show the fill line on the proof. Our custom printed sweet bags page covers the non-seasonal versions in the same sizes.
Most Halloween bags use metallised PET / PE. It is opaque, so black and purple print deeply with a white under-print beneath the orange and green, and it keeps moisture out so gummies do not go sticky and biscuits stay crisp.
Chocolate and fudge are fine in the same laminate for the few weeks a seasonal bag is on sale. Buttery biscuits benefit from PET / foil / PE, which stops fat marking the outside of the bag. Food-contact, high-barrier and compostable film options are available on request and confirmed on the quote.
| Treat | Laminate | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Jelly sweets and gums | Metallised PET / PE | Keeps moisture out so sweets stay separate |
| Decorated biscuits | PET / foil / PE | Blocks fat marks and keeps biscuits crisp |
| Popcorn and crisps | Metallised PET / PE | Light and oxygen barrier for the oil in the kernel |
| Fudge and toffee | Matte BOPP / PE or metallised | Short shelf life, so a lighter film works |
| Pet treats | Kraft / PET / PE | Paper look, with a foil layer behind it |
Yes. A window cut in the shape of a pumpkin, a ghost or a bat lets the colours of the sweets show through the print. Keep the shape at least 10 mm inside the side seals and above the fill line so it shows product, not empty film.
Clear windows show the sweets as they are. Frosted windows blur them slightly, which hides a mix that varies from bag to bag. A window on a black bag is striking, though it does let light reach the sweets. For gummies and boiled sweets that does no harm over a few weeks.
Shaped bags cut to a pumpkin outline, rather than a window in a rectangle, are a different product. See our die cut mylar bags in custom shapes if you want the whole bag shaped.
A press-to-close zipper suits bags that go home and sit in a cupboard. Children open a 250 g bag of sweets and nobody finishes it in one go, so the zipper keeps the rest fresh. A slider zipper is easier for small hands and is available on request.
Party favour bags of 40 to 50 g are usually heat sealed with a tear notch and no zipper. They are opened once, emptied and binned. Leaving the zipper off saves money on a bag that is only used for an evening.
A hang hole above the seal lets small bags hang on a hook by the till, which is where impulse sales happen in the last week of October.
Orange, purple, acid green and white on a black base are the classic palette. On a metallised film, all of these need a white under-print beneath them or the orange goes brown. We add the white layer as part of the free proof.
Full colour digital print suits seasonal bags because runs are short and several designs can share one order: a pumpkin bag, a ghost bag and a cauldron bag at a few hundred each. Matte finish hides fingerprints on black. Spot gloss over matte makes the pumpkins shine against a matte night sky.
Send your logo through Design Your Pouch to preview it and our designers draw the seasonal artwork around it for free.
Seasonal bags have a hard deadline. Work backwards from the day you want the bags on the shelf and follow these steps.
Ordering too late is the big one. A proof approved on 20 October will not be filled and on the shelf for the 31st. Start in September.
Ordering too many is the second. A Halloween bag has no use on 1 November. Order what you can fill and sell in the season, then switch to a plain or year-round design for the rest of your stock. Our printed stand up pouches for everyday stock cover that.
Forgetting the ingredients and allergen panel is the third. Seasonal artwork takes over the front, so the back panel must carry the legal text in a readable size. We check this on the proof.
Email or WhatsApp your artwork or logo, the sweets or treats going in, the weight per bag and the quantity. Quantities are quoted per order, from £0.25 per unit, and the written quote confirms the figure and the delivery date.
A free design proof comes first, and nothing prints until you sign it off. Production then takes 4–6 business days, and free tracked delivery adds 2–3 business days to any UK address.
Misprints or damage reported within 10 days with photos are reprinted or refunded. Use the quote request for seasonal sweet bags and tell us your deadline in the message box.
Four short steps: pick a real pouch photo, place your logo on it, choose the colour and finish, and send it. Our designers turn it into a free print-ready proof.
Fill weight, closure, barrier and quantity decide the price. Send what you know and a packaging specialist comes back within one business day with a written quote and a free design proof.
